what is kish
kish stands for "kevin" "isaak" "sarah" and "hannah" which is my name and the names of my children, as well as paying homage to one of my favorite photographers, yousef karsh of ottawa
the lack of punctuation or capitals is homage to my favorite poet, e. e. cummings
i have been actively involved in photography for almost 20 years, including through high-school and college. i have taught photo classes several times, have been a camera salesperson and have won numerous awards for my work
i am currently working on several projects including the photographing of old farmhouses in southern saskatchewan, churches in downtown regina and images of the heavy-oil refinery located in regina
i use medium-format film whenever possible, particularly Ilford PanF (which is pulled to 25 iso and developed in perceptol) and HP5 (developed in ID-11). colour film is fuji provia 100 iso, a slide film requiring E-6 development. i process b&w negatives myself, and all images are digitized using an epson 4490 film scanner prior to being worked on in photoshop cs3.
cameras currently in use include a mamiya rz67, canon ae-1, kiev 6c, nikon d50 and a minolta rangefinder.
